We may eagerly anticipate the next dance remix but there’s got to be more to life, right?
Qind Blogazine is an idea born in early 2004 out of a discussion about the appropriate representation of a diverse gay volleyball club in the London gay press and media. A little digging quickly revealed that the majority of gay magazines around tended to project what could be considered a one-dimensional view on the ‘gay lifestyle’. They seemed to be focused on presenting idealised and stereotypical images of beautiful boys in hot pursuit of hedonistic activities. Life is apparently primarily about clubbing and drugs, sex and holiday destinations, with little else besides…
Qind Blogazine rises from the realisation that being gay presents one with a wide spectrum of challenges that stretch far beyond the confines of the next circuit party. There are many other things that are important in our lives: achieving physical, emotional and spiritual health; dealing with family and intimate relationships; establishing financial stability; pursuing interest in political issues, social responsibility and environmental sustainability. What we wanted was to create a place where you could find this.
