dear matthew, I agree with you when it is all about people you have merely a shallow connection to. I totally disagree when it is about humans (or penguins or even polar bears, respectively) you are really closest to. in the latter case a relentless openness MUST be possible to clear the air if contaminated. I feel there can't be anything like innecessary authenticity. I rather believe it is , even if it seems blunt, the only reliable basis for trust in a love relationship. And it is my experience, there is nothing remotely as toxic to love as suspicion.
